The Opportunity
We are searching for a diligent, curious, and thorough Traffic and Civil Engineering Manager to take a technical role in our business. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, your new role will be responsible for the design and delivery of traffic solutions and civil components of our projects. If you thrive off coming up with clever designs and are fantastic at negotiating with stakeholders who are trying to seek technical solutions, this opportunity is for you.
What Projects?
OTR has plans to deliver a national network. This is a unique opportunity to join an organisation and influence the design and construction of retail, food, fuel, and convenience outlets across the country. You will be working nationally to design solutions that will meet regulatory requirements.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
Manage the delivery of design and conduct reviews to ensure assumptions are challenged and designs are efficient.
Critically analyse a project opportunity and break it up into packages, i.e. Early Works, to better manage outcomes.
Build effective relationships with key stakeholders including DPTI and local councils
Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure norms are challenged
Review and evaluate tenders for consultancies and contractors
Understand the nuisances of different jurisdictions
Review and evaluate traffic impacts and design.
Provide Project Managers with support information on matters related to traffic, stormwater, general civil design, and structural matters
Interstate travel as required for projects
The successful candidate will possess:
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering are essential
The ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively manage expectations
The ability to negotiate strongly with regulatory authorities and challenge standard practice 10+ years prior Industry experience, with exposure to large scale commercial projects
A sound working knowledge and understanding of traffic management methodologies
Critique civil and traffic designs to find opportunities to save on design costs, materials and better methods of constructability.
Understand risk methodologies and the need to utilise commercial acumen to manage costs
